St Bees Triers
Welcome to the St Bees Triers Web page
We are a running, cycling, swimming and triathlon club with members from the village but with many who live outside, with the majority of our members interested in running rather than the other disciplines.
We are an informal and friendly group, welcoming all abilities and giving those who join the chance to train around the village and enjoy the local scenery.
For the runners Thursday is the training day with a 6pm meeting time for the slower members and 7pm for the speedier ones, but it is a principle of the club that training takes place together so that nobody is left out. Events in all the disciplines are organised by the club and individuals often join together to take part in other events. There is a strong social element to the club with celebrations and barbecues to make certain that members get to know and encourage one another.
Every year there is a big event that draws large numbers together. This in the past has been a relay back to St Bees from Bassenthwaite, a 24 hour run round the village to raise money for Comic Relief and this year (2014) it is the Everest Challenge. This is a 24 hour run up Dent to attempt more than 40 ascents which equals one Everest, all in aid of Sport Relief.

The Everest Challenge
St.Bees Triers finished the Everest Challenge at 12 Noon on 22nd March 2014 with a group photograph on the summit of Dent. 95 runners and 19 dogs took part over the 24 hours with the dogs achieving nearly two "Everests" while the runners were just short of nine. (40 ascents of Dent equals one Everest). Snow, driving hail, rain and some sunshine added to the occasion.
