St Bees in fortunate in not only having a wealth of musical talent within the community and St Bees School, but also having the opportunity to express it through recitals, choirs, bands, and local music centres.
Priory Singers meet regularly in Old College Hall during term time and perform regularly both in the village and locality.
The church choir goes from strength to strength and sings at the 10.30 church service in the Priory most Sundays,
Egremont and Whitehaven Brass bands both have St Bees contributors and they would welcome budding musicians. They regularly perform in the Priory.
St Bees School has a particularly high level of musical talent amongst its pupils and individuals and choirs perform regularly in School organised events.
Finally, for those interested in becoming involved, various options exist. The Priory Singers and church choirs would welcome new members. The Brass bands should be approached directly for information.
And the West Lakes Music Centre in Egremont & Whitehaven offers all musicians an opportunity. Whether they're a beginner, relearning or have years of experience – they provide an opportunity for everyone who has learnt to play an instrument to enjoy making music together.
It includes a Community Orchestra; a new and unique group open to all ages and instruments from early learners to those who haven’t had an opportunity to play for a while and would like to get back into music making.
They welcome all interested to join their music groups for brass, woodwind, guitar, beginner Music for Fun and the wind band (including percussion).
