NOW RE-OPENED! Platform 9 is situated in the picturesque village of St Bees, which is renowned for being the start of the famous Wainwright coast to coast walk, its bird reserve and its private school. The sandstone building was the old station house, and was converted into a restaurant in 1980, with three letting rooms being added in 2004. The building still retains many of its original features and now also boasts a replica Pullman’s dining railway carriage. The restaurant was originally opened in 1980 by the current owner’s parents, Joyce and David Morland, and successfully traded with them at the helm for 26 years until 2006, when it briefly passed out of the family. Now, however, Louisa has returned to continue her parents’ past successes and build on their legacy. Specialising in modern British food, and using fresh local ingredients, Platform 9 continues to be a family run business, with Louisa's mother growing many of the vegetables and fruits appearing on the menu. The restaurant offers fine dining without being in the least bit stuffy. With the emphasis on friendly, efficient service and quality, freshly cooked food, our motto is "not quite Platform 9 3/4 but still a magical experience."
